Why are women told that “pampering” ourselves and “taking care of” ourselves necessarily includes the purchase of beauty products and performance of extensive non-essential grooming?

You don’t have to be wearing an impurity clearing antioxidant charcoal and avocado face mask to do self care.

Try pampering yourself by letting your skin take a break from all the stuff we are told to slather on it every day, letting your leg hair grow out and using those few extra minutes from not shaving to text your loved ones, and reading an encouraging blog instead of straightening or curling your hair in the morning.
