Hey! Welcome to my blog. My name is Alek and I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. Truly. I have very few memories of my life before learning to write and ever since I learned I really liked the idea of journaling and writing stories. I remember specifically what must have been my very first journal. It was green. I was writing a story about a cat who found a cave and inside the cave she got magical (majikal) powers. I remember writing in that journal with big crayola markers that bled through the pages.
Words are important to me. They always have been. I never felt like I had to be forced to read, I took to it like a fish to water. Books were my friends and my comfort. Reading and writing have always been my main hobbies, and the main things that I felt identified my personality. I want this blog to be kind of a record of my love for words. I want to share my writing here as well as my thoughts on books that I am reading. As a young mother, I am also embarking on the journey of homeschooling with my children and I am very much hoping to be able to pass my love of words on to them, so hopefully I will be able to faithfully document that aspect of my life as well.
As a teenager I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder. Dealing with this disease colors much of my day-to-day life and it is something that I feel that I can speak with some authority on, having lived with it for most of my life. I know that anxiety disorders are not uncommon, and it’s always my hope that if I come across someone who shares these traits with me that I can be of some help to them, or at least make them feel less alone.
I got married at age 19 and converted to the Catholic Church at 21. I consider myself a fairly spiritual person but of course I am still so new to this that I tend to shy away from writing about the faith except in terms of personal experiences.
I am a stay-at-home mom and I am so very grateful for this fact. I love my work at home. I’m not an expert homemaker either but I am learning as I go and I like to share my discoveries as I come upon them.
OF course I hope that this blog will be an inspiration to you. I certainly don’t claim to be an expert on anything that I will share here. I do love to learn though, and I hope that my documenting my foibles I might be able to help a couple of people out along the way as I go.
